rafael vinoly architects: brooklyn children’s museum

the brooklyn children’s museum by rafael vinoly architects combines bold and colourful forms with sustainable design. the museum’s original building was finished in 1977, but the new design re-imagines and reconfigures the space for a growing audience in brooklyn, new york. the new museum is a singular structure which intentionally differs from its context. the building’s bold primary colours and large modern forms were designed to identify it as a landmark, while also be compelling for children. the facade is mostly clad in glossy yellow ceramic tiles dotted with porthole windows and accented by green and red walls.
