The area around the van Hasseltweg in Amsterdam Noord is to be developed, setting large urban scale projects amongst the existing small ‘garden-village’ housing estates. The planning activity is concentrated around the location of the new noord/zuidlijn metro station and the Albatros is the first of the projects to come on stream.

Darcons Headquarters / Architecture Process

The site is located at a suburban lot of a middle size city in northern Mexico. As one drives towards it and away from de city, the building appears aligned with the road as an arched gate of a medieval town: looking through it one gets the scenery of the rural fields that surround the city.

UK architects chris lee and kapil gupta of serie architects have designed 'the tote', mumbai, a banquet hall, restaurant and bar. their brief was to incorporate a series of disused buildings from the city's colonial past set within the mumbai race course and convert them to form a series of restaurant and bars. the conservation guidelines called for the preservation of the roof profile for three-quarters of the buildings and full conservation for the remaining one-quarter.

World’s Largest LED Project Completed in Abu Dhabi

If you think your neighbor’s holiday lighting spectacle is an exercise in excess, wait till you see the world’s largest LED project, recently completed in Abu Dhabi. Created by Asymptote Architecture with lighting design by Arup, The Yas Hotel is a wrapped with a sparkling shell composed of more than 5,300 diamond-shaped panels bristling with over 5,000 LED fixtures. The curvilinear field of lights is capable of running color-changing light sequences and can even display low-res three-dimensional videos.

KBcenter

Waltritsch a+u designed the KBcenter, a new space for cultural and social interaction dedicated to the Slovenian community in Gorizia, Italy. It is located in the heart of the 19th century development of the city, on the main street of the town. The center gathers 13 organizations, dedicated to different cultural interest and age groups. Among others, a Library, two Educational Institutions, The Slovenian cultural and economical Association and The Music school. The main goal is the promotion of the Slovenian cultural activity in a framework of a respectful multiethnic society.

Imagine a place in Johannesburg where you can enjoy music, film, talks, natural history exhibits, and art…. From early on, it was evident to the architect, Pierre Swanepoel of studioMAS, that CIRCA was to be ‘the’ venue to go to, a place to enjoy the best contemporary art on offer in Johannesburg; it would therefore need to function as a cultural gathering place. Forming an art precinct in the north western corner of Rosebank, its design focuses on a comprehensive way of looking at art and in so doing, creates a flexible, multi-purpose building, that gives the visitor complete exposure to all types of art within the ambit of supporting amenities.
